After attending Te Aroha College, Darren completed a degree in Applied Science (majoring in Rural Valuation) at Massey University in Palmerston North. This provided him with an excellent understanding of finance and management issues in the rural sector.

Darren joined Diprose Miller in 1998 before heading off on a four-year “OE”. He re-joined Diprose Miller in 2002 and went back to study accounting and once qualified purchased an interest in the practice in 2011.

Darren is married to Megan, and together they have four teenage children who all attend Te aroha College. He is heavily involved in the children’s sports, currently coaching a rugby team and helping Megan play taxi service to get them to various games and practices.

He is also involved in the community in a wide range of roles, Chairperson of the board of trustees for Te Aroha Primary School, trustee on the Te Aroha College Alumni trust, Committee member of the Te Aroha Business Association and President of the Te Aroha Squash Club.
